The StoryCorps Mobile Tour is at InDo Nashville
Some stories deserve to be recorded, not just remembered. This July, InDo Nashville is honored to host the StoryCorps Mobile Tour for their Nashville stop, right here at 632 Fogg St.
From July 13 to July 26, the StoryCorps van will be parked outside our building, welcoming Nashvillians in to sit down, hit record, and preserve a conversation that matters.
Why StoryCorps, Why Here
StoryCorps has spent over two decades traveling the country in a mobile recording studio, capturing conversations between everyday people and adding them to a national archive of American voices. This year's Southern leg of the tour is bringing that same mission to communities across the Southeast, and Nashville is next on the route.
We're especially proud that this stop is happening in partnership with Songwriting With: Soldiers, the veteran-focused nonprofit headquartered right here at InDo. SW:S has spent over a decade helping veterans and military families process their experiences through collaborative songwriting, and this StoryCorps visit gives that same community another way to be heard, this time through spoken word.
Who Can Participate
This isn't just for veterans, although StoryCorps' Military Voices Initiative will absolutely be part of the conversations recorded during this stop.
Any member of the public can sign up for a free recording session while the van is in town. Bring a family member, a friend, a mentor, anyone you'd want to have a real conversation with, and StoryCorps will help you capture it for the archive.
StoryCorps is committed to the idea that everyone has an important story to tell and that everyone’s story matters. StoryCorps mission is to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all, one story at a time. Since their founding in 2003, they’ve helped over 700,000 people across the country have meaningful conversations about their lives. These recordings are collected in the U.S. Library of Congress and in its online archive, which is now the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered. You may have heard excerpts from some of the incredible stories on NPR or in their podcast.
