At InDo Nashville, what makes our space truly special isn’t just the architecture, the UnCubicles, or the skyline views; it’s the people. We are deeply committed to supporting local artists and creatives, providing space for their voices, and cultivating a community where art, entrepreneurship, and expression intersect.
On Saturday, February 21, we are proud to host the Opening Reception for The Shades of Becoming, a powerful solo exhibition by local artist Olasubomi Aka-Bashorun (@draftsbyola). The exhibition brings together several bodies of Ola’s work created over the past few years and explores identity, growth, and transformation through portraiture, movement, and layered storytelling.
This special evening will kick off an ongoing exhibit that will remain on view at InDo Nashville, allowing both our members and the public to experience the work beyond opening night.
About the Artist
Ola’s work is both deeply personal and socially conscious. Through expressive portraiture and layered visual narratives, he explores themes of transformation, dignity, and emotional evolution. His pieces feel intimate yet expansive — inviting viewers not just to observe, but to reflect.
His ability to capture strength, vulnerability, and movement within a single frame makes his work resonate far beyond the canvas. Whether addressing personal healing or broader social awareness, Ola’s art centers humanity in all its complexity.
Opening Reception Details
VIP Hour | 5–6 PM (Ticketed)
An intimate, ticketed preview hour to connect with the artist and collectors in a more personal setting. Tickets are available here online and at the door.
Public Doors Open | 6 PM
Free and open to the public.
From 6–7 PM, Ola will transition into a live painting experience, allowing guests to witness his creative process in real time.
Artist Talk | 7 PM
A conversation exploring the evolution of the work and the journey behind The Shades of Becoming.
The evening will also include:

The Exhibition
The Shades of Becoming brings together multiple bodies of work created over the past several years, each examining different dimensions of identity and transformation:
The Dance of the Wondering Fabrics – expressive figurative works centered on motion, texture, and the emotional language of fabric.
Homeless Youth Series – an awareness-driven collection that has been exhibited across multiple states and internationally, highlighting resilience and humanity.
Elegance reDefined – portraits that explore strength, presence, and contemporary elegance through stylized figures and bold composition.
Self-Portrait Works – pieces reflecting personal evolution, healing, and self-discovery over time.
Exhibit Viewing Information
Following the opening reception, The Shades of Becoming will remain on view at InDo Nashville.
Public Viewing Hours:
Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
We welcome members of the public to visit during weekday hours to experience the exhibit.
And for our InDo members? They’ll have the privilege of being surrounded and inspired by Ola’s work every single day — a daily reminder that creativity and growth are part of the entrepreneurial journey.
